Today's Strip:
Keeping it kinda short and sweet this week, lot of junk in the
mill,..
I was watching a lot of the old 80's and 90's cartoons this week
through the magic of p2p, and realized that the cartoons of
the 50's, 60's and into the 70's were far superior works, though
they didn't have the benefit of computer short cuts, digital
audio, or high speed editing. Nonetheless, the classic cartoons of
Warner Brothers are timeless,..and the closer to present day we
come, the farther away from that quality level we run. Now don't
get me wrong, there are notable exceptions that moved the humor
that existed in the 60's into the 90's and beyond utilizing the
less stringent moral leashes applied to older cartoons. Ren &
Stimpy, The Family Guy, and The Simpson's are just a few, and here
and there you could see a spark like in The ALF cartoon, and Tiny
Toon Adventures, but for the most part, (minus the Japanese
imports of course) cartoons and comics flat suck.
I went trolling around to try to figure out why, and found this
page explaining the Hell that the guys at SPUMCO Ren &
Stimpy creators went through "before Nick Turned it to
crap" and it all made perfect sense to me then. It's pretty
much the same in the IT world, Management never goes to workers
and say's "Here's a problem we have,...you help us figure out
how best to fix it" They go "Here's a plan I came up
with about how best to do what you do, now go do it." Glad I
get to learn so much from other peoples mistakes.
Stuff:
Yeah I had to put in a reference to
Jane
Goodall, I've had a crush on her since I was 13 what can ya
do,..I'll donate some of this months donations :)
If I haven't pointed this out before here's an
example of some people who still contain the spark of
creativity and humor.
Ever feel like killing someone?
Here's your chance I've
killed a few thousand people today, and I feel good about it
REALLY good about it. I can't wait till it flips and I get to kill
em again, THAT'S how much I liked it! Thanks George for a link to
a site that sums up my psyche in a nutshell.
Not interested in the Guggenheim?
Well here's a
museum that you can visit naked and hungry, and screaming if
you want, mmmmm,..delicious!
What's new?
Yeah yeah another week goes by and I haven't finished the new
comics and comic artists section,..hey there's a LOT of stuff out
there to try to cram in,..so hang in there for another week.
Kickin it remedial school style!
