The World as I see it this week:

Rant:  Jedi Knight II again :)
Listening to: Envy - Eve's Plum - Who's lead singer became Vitamin C :(
Read: The Pop-Up Kama Sutra

Watching:

I think it's time for us to realize the spaces in between,  leave room, for you and I to grow

Today's Strip:

Yeah I had to go off on Jedi Knight II again,...and I probably shouldn't because all in all it is a really good game, but that's why it pisses me off all the more that the designers at Lucas Arts seem to think that it can't "JUST" be a good game on it's own. I know the Star Wars Universe is established and all, but christ,...the dialogue in this game sounded like they made it up entirely out of movie sound bytes.

"A wretched hive of scum and villainy"......you can't comprehend how much respect I lost for the game when I heard that.

I mean did some game designer go "Well if I don't put that in there, people might not know that this is a Star Wars Game" And of course it's Rouge Squadron that Defends the planet,...do the rebels not have any other squadrons, or in the Rebel Army maybe Squadron = Army. And there were a LOT of other sound bytes from the movie that could have been done MUCH better with NEW plot related dialogue. I half expected to hear, "Close the blast doors" every time I walked in to a new area.

The other silly thing about this game is that it seems like there must only be officers in the Empire that like to go from secure area to secure area by moving bricks, and lining up switches and jumping on timed platforms. Seems like a huge waste of time to me,....no wonder the empire always gets it's ass kicked. This game has enough plot friendly reasons to get in and out of tight spots without adding all the tomb raider aspects.

And of course my #1 pet peeve in ALL computer generated/rendered characters is that it seems there isn't one designer in the world that understands that:
HUMANS DON'T HAVE 3000 WATT HALOGEN BULBS IN THEIR MOUTHS!!!
Fucking Idiots!!!
Yes I know you spent hours designing Bob the Jedi's Teeth and tongue and you REALLY want to show off the work, but you should never add a light source INSIDE the mouth, In fact there should be a blocking layer on all sides but the opening, that's just how real people are. Every time I see a rendered person, it always looks like their glowing soul is trying to escape their throat. Even the Final Fantasy Movie had a few places where the mouths were wrong. (though on the whole, best renders yet)

The other thing I mentioned last week, that had become even more obvious to me now, is that Jedi's get a large portion of their power from the fact that they are genetically linked to Kangaroos. I think 50% or more of the game is spent jumping around. Jedi's should really learn to, carry rope, pick locks, and try walking once and a while.

I must be getting older,..or smarter

The anticipation I'm feeling for the new RUSH album far outweighs the desire to go see the new Star Wars Release. Don't get me wrong, I'll go see it, but I already know which one I'm going to be enjoying more.

Some people have asked me how I keep up on release dates for albums, and new projects from the bands I like and so forth, and as much as I'd like to say "I've got connections in the biz" I actually just go read  Melodicrock.com. The site isn't the easiest thing on the eyes, but the info more than makes up for that.

I'm glad to see some other people on the planet have brains.

As you may remember, there was a group of idiots trying to ban Speedy Gonzales due to concerns over Stereotyping Mexicans, and I as I was about to just write off the human race all together, I read this article and smiled. It turns out that The League of United Latin American Citizens, the United States' oldest Hispanic-American rights group LOVES Speedy and says that most Hispanics do. *Go figure, he's the fucking hero, how is this a negative thing*

Stuff:

I'm very close to having the new sections finished, so hopefully next week you'll be able to see some of the results.

Anywho I'm out!

Put your feet down down down, down down down, on the floor.
